The Twitter account of USA Today has been hacked in the latest cyberattack on a US media outlet by a group calling itself the "Script Kiddies." USA Today, the flagship paper of Gannett, the largest US newspaper chain, issued on apology on Sunday after the hackers seized control of the @usatoday account and issued a series of tweets. "We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion caused to our readers," the newspaper said on @usatoday, which has more than 170,000 followers. "@usatoday was hacked and as a result false tweets were sent. We worked with Twitter to correct it. The account is now back in our control," it added. Script Kiddies have previously hacked the Twitter feed of NBC News and a Fox News account. On those occasions, the hackers tweeted false news reports. In the USA Today attack, the group asked readers to visit the Script Kiddies page on Facebook and to select their next target.
