UAE Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri and Mayor of Rotterdam Ahmed Aboutaleb have met to discuss ways of enhancing economic and trade ties and explore potential investment opportunities in areas of common interest, with a focus on innovation and technology.
The UAE is interested in strengthening co-operation with the Netherlands in sectors such as innovation and technology, said Al Mansouri, who is leading a large economic delegation to the European country.
Describing the Netherlands as a global leader in technology and innovation, he noted that positive steps were taken to enhance co-operation between Emirati and Dutch universities, research centres and business incubators as a prelude to more vibrant economic co-operation between the two countries, he noted Aboutaleb noted that in addition to economic commonalities such as attractive investment environments and open markets, the UAE and the Netherlands serve as gateways to the Middle East and European markets.
The UAE delegation visited a number of Dutch research and educational centres including Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS Institute), YES!Delft, the leading technology incubator in Europe.
