The first African supersonic drone will be released in 2016 in Algeria as part of the scientific cooperation with South Africa, announced Sunday in Oran the General Director of Scientific Research and Technological Development (DG-RDST).
Algeria will host the technological platform to manufacture motors of this innovative tactical usage device, said Hafidh Aourag in a statement to APS on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of the International Fair of Autonomous Aerial Vehicles (AEV).
The aeronautic Institute of the University of Blida was chosen to host the implementation site of the production platform where the joint teams will be set up on 1st January 2015 for a deadline of 18 months, said Aourag.
This operation will be materialized in the favour of the pooling of Algerian and South African competencies and know-how, he underlined, recalling that a scientific cooperation agreement between the two countries was signed last Friday at the Oran Mohamed Benahmed Convention Center (CCO), at the Inauguration of the international salon dedicated to AEVs.
