State Minister for Telecommunications Affairs Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa held a reception ceremony in honour of the Telecommunications Ministers, Heads of the delegations and officials from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) taking part in ITU plenipotentiary delegates conference at the Exhibition Centre in Busan, South Korea.
The ceremony is held on the occasion of Bahrain's running for ITU board. ITU Secretary General Hamdoun Toure praised Bahrain's perpetual development and outstanding achievements in the telecommunications and Information Technology (IT) sector, pointing out its ranking by the World Bank as a country with a developing telecommunications sector.
Shaikh Fawaz thanked the ITU Secretary General, wishing him every success. He also congratulated the new ITU Secretary General Houlin Zhao, wishing him every success in his mission. He lauded Bahrain's accomplishments in the modern telecommunications and IT field, pointing out the major conference that will be hosted Bahrain in the next two years.
He discussed with the audience good relations between Bahrain and their countries and ways of boosting them mainly in the telecommunications and IT field.
