Sony has been in some trouble for quite some time. But next week, the company's new chief executive hopes to allay fears and prove to investors that his new team is on the right track. Sony's newly installed CEO, Kazuo Hirai, will be host a special event on April 12 to outline his strategy for the coming years. At this point, Sony hasn't divulged any piece of what Hirai will focus on, but it's quite likely he will discuss in far more detail plans for his "One Sony" initiative. The One Sony initiative was announced last month. The three "core pillars" of One Sony will be digital imaging, gaming, and mobile. To further illustrate mobile's importance to Sony, the company announced yesterday that it plans to replace current Mobile Communications chief Bert Nordberg with Kunimasa Suzuki on May 16. It was the latest in a string of appointments Hirai has made. Hirai announced the April 12 event at a press conference in Tokyo today, at which he spoke to reporters for the first time since becoming CEO earlier this week. At the press conference, he also noted the importance of his company's Professional Products unit. According to Bloomberg, which attended the press conference, Hirai said that his companys "advanced products for business use can help our consumer unit lead the market." It's an intriguing statement, considering Sony isn't necessarily known as an enterprise juggernaut. Still, it's clear that dramatic shifts must occur at Sony for the company to turn things around. During the company's 2011 fiscal year, which ended March 31, 2011, it lost 260 billion yen ($3.2 billion). When Sony posts its latest fiscal-year results in the coming weeks, it is expected to post another huge loss.
