Splash down: The ink jumps as the speakers are turned on
These stunning images show vibrant splashes of paint 'dancing' to sound vibrations. Photographers created the series of rainbow paint sculptures by capturing how it moves when sound waves are passed through it. At just
a few millimetres high, the intricacies of the moving drops are invisible to the naked eye.
But when they are filmed at high speed the physical sound wave is captured in astounding detail.
The artists began by wrapping a membrane around a small speaker. Ink drops were placed on the membrane and the speaker was turned on.
Once it began to vibrate the ink was photographed at very high speed jumping up and down to capture the colourful formations.
The project devised by creative studio Dentsu London, features specially commissioned shots by photographer and biochemist Linden Gledhill.
Mr Gledhill said: 'Two years ago I would never have imagined that messing around with paint splashing from a small speaker would have resulted in such an exceptional experience.'
The finished images were created to form part of an advertising campaign to promote Canon's Pixma Ink Printer brand.
