With summer just around the corner, we all want perfect skin that we can bare without shame. From rough, chapped skin to a perfectly supple texture, we go through extremes to get the results we want. Here are 10 essential tips to follow to get gorgeous summer skin: 1.Prep your skin: Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate. The more you do, the fresher your skin will look, surfacing the healthiest layer and removing the dead, dry patches over your soles and elbows. A mild exfoliant is usually better to avoid over scrubbing. Using a scrubbing loofah or brush, or a body mask is perfect. Rub the exfoliant in circular motion to remove all the dead cells then rinse off. Repeat this procedure twice a week for silky skin throughout the summer. 2.Hydrate: dry skin is a result of dehydration. The more water you drink, the healthier your skin will look and feel. 3.Moisturize: the best time to moisturize is right after you exfoliate or come out of the shower. That is when your pores are open and ready to take in the moisturizer cream or lotion. Using a light lotion will ensure fast absorption, and maximum area coverage. 4.Shower right: taking long, hot showers will contribute to your dry skin. The colder the shower, the better. Pat drying with a soft towel is preferred, leaving a slight layer of moisture on your skin to be locked in with the moisturizer. Using a low fragrance shower gel/ soap will help you avoid over-dryness from the alcohol/ fragrance in these products. 5.Protect: the harmful sunrays are very dangerous to your skin. Have all the fun in the sun you want as long as you’re wearing your sunscreen. A sunscreen of at least SPF 30 is recommended. Whether that sunscreen is a spray, lotion, cream, or oil, apply generously to your skin 30 minutes before you go into the sun, even when you want to take a tan. 6.Happy Feet: the dry winter months leave your soles and feet cracked and all dried up. Prep your feet for sandals by scrubbing off all the dead skin using a pumice stone and moisturize with a foot-friendly moisturizer. 7.Remove hair: whether it’s wax, shaving, body sugar, or depilatory cream, make sure you use high quality products and scrub well before the hair removal process. High quality products will ensure a closer shave and less ingrown hairs. 8.Get a tan: a fake tan is what you need. It’s safe, takes less than an hour, doesn’t harm your skin (unlike sun bathing), and gives your that bronze color you won’t be getting by just sitting in the sun for hours on end. Spray- on tans are available at most pharmacies, and can also be done professionally at a spray tanning salon. 9.The face: think of it as a cover page. If your face is dry or blotchy, your whole appearance will just look “off”! Your skincare regimen should be in that order: cleanse- tone- moisturize. Choose a mild cleanser that would be suitable for everyday use, a good toner to remove makeup/ dirt/ sweat, and a light moisturizer to hydrate your face without clogging your pores. Exfoliate your face with a special facial exfoliant twice a week. 10.Elasticity: tight skin is essential when it comes to revealing swim suits and hot shorts. With regular exercise and appropriate skin care remedies, you can do it. Opt for skin care products that enhance collagen production. Use anti- cellulite creams, modeling creams, and frequent massages to get your circulation running and your cellulite to disappear.
