There are few people I've spoken to in my lifetime who are as brave and candid as Allison Henry, who told me about a serious medical condition she suffered from this week. It's a condition that has affected other women, but she had a particularly bad case. As she puts it, "My vagaina fell out." Henry, a 39-year-old school psychologist from Kenmore, Wash., suffered from a vaginal prolapse -- a condition in which the vagina, uterus, rectum, bladder, urethra and small intestine shift and -- in severe cases -- innards may protrude from the body. "I know it sounds like a science fiction movie," she said. "Every time I retell this story, I still tell myself, 'I can't believe this happened to me.'" It took nearly three years and several rounds of surgery to put her organs back in place. Sadly, many other women suffer from this problem. Unfortunately, they suffer in silence. And that means they will never get help.
