Half of British men have admitted that they regularly hide in the bathroom from a nagging partner, according to a new study. Geberit AquaClean WCs, which asked 2,000 people, revealed that fathers who are trying to escape hyperactive children or wives on the warpath, are likely to be found taking time out in the toilet. Rather than using it for obvious purposes, nearly half admit they take sanctuary playing games on their phone, listening to sports commentary or relaxing to music. Blokes say the bathroom is the only place where they can be sure of absolute privacy by hiding behind a locked door. Twenty per cent said they'd been told off for taking too long and over a third confessed they spend more time in the toilet than their partner. One in 10 men is avoiding his partner's friends or reality TV and soaps, while a third just calm down. "The bathroom seems to be the last stronghold for guaranteed peace and quiet," the Daily Express quoted Raffaela De Vittorio, of Geberit AquaClean WCs, as saying.
