The Jordanian activist, Dr. Lubna Dawany, honered with the Humanitarian Award for 2017, from Sheila Kar Foundation, in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, for her efforts for many years on issues of women and vulnerable groups.
Dr. Lubna Dawany, stressed, in an exclusive interview with Arabs Today, that the honor is an important step to complete her humanitarian efforts and her voluntary works.
"I am always optimistic that good future, and I can brought this positive feeling for women oceans me and who are in need of positive and optimistic and we will together achieve what we hope, " she added.
Dawany said that the issues related to women and vulnerable groups need a great effort and time, and require thinking about all the big and small details due to the seriousness of the situation and its sensitivity.
She said that sometimes women just need you to stand by them; I am there for them, and this is my reward. Let’s be more human, let’s come back to our humanity and come together, let’s stop wars, killings in the name of honor, in the name of freedom; it is all killing so let’s stop killing and live in peace.
"We in Jordan chose to open the topic boldly, in terms of human rights, and we chose to talk about it to raise the community and official's awareness about the magnitude of these the offense acts againt women, calling to stop the killing of women," she stated.
Dawany has expertise in honor crimes through her extensive campaign and support for women who have endured and are at risk of torture and mutilation, imprisonment and honor murder and is currently working with Syrian refugees.
