UAE adventurer Mariam Salim Al Hammadi set out on Friday on a new quest in the Himalayas after her success in reaching the South Pole last summer where she hoisted the UAE flag.
Mariam stressed her resolve to be the ambassadress of her country's flag.
She also said that she hopes to hold the UAE flag high in her second quest to climb the highest mountain in the Himalayan mountain range in Asia to become the first Arab and Emirati to scale this.
Mariam comes from Marfae' in the Western Region and is a student at the Higher Technical Colleges there and is well known for her love of challenge and adventure.
The Himalayan range is home to the planet's highest peaks, including the highest, Mount Everest. The Himalayas include over a hundred mountains exceeding 7,200 metres (23,600 ft.) in elevation.
