On Tuesday, Jordan had a day full of several incidents. A Jordanian father strangled his daughter with the help of his son using a piece of cloth in Wadi al-Hagar (Zarqa province, 20 km east Amman). The father and son entered the girl’s room to find her talking to a young man on Skype, which made them so angry that they strangled her immediately. The victim’s brother reported the incident to the security bodies, caliming that his father killed her alone. Another incident took place in Karak (120 km south Amman) where a vehicle crashed on the deseret road, near al-Dabba bridge between al-Qatrana and Karak leaving three people dead and a child with several wounds and bruises. In Ibrid (100 km north Amman), a driver hit a girl and a woman in two separate accidents with less than five minutes time interval. Head of Ibrid police General Abdul Wali al Shakhaneba said the driver ran over a nine years old girl in a street on Hakma, north Ibrid. Trying to save the young girl, the driver took her in his car and headed towards Princess Basma Hospital but his confusion made him hit a 61 years old woman with his car. The driver took the woman also in his car and drove to the hospital, leaving the two injured persons in the emergency room and turned himself in to the security bodies. Director of the hospital, Dr Akram al- Khasawna said the girl’s condition is serious, while the woman’s condition is moderate. According to a statement issued by the security media centre in the General Security directorate, Maan police department (230 km south Amman) interrupted a plan to smuggle 61 Syrians in three trucks while passing through Maan. The statement said that a patrol unit of Maan police department stopped three trucks on the desert road with 61 Syrian persons on board. They were kept, and the drivers were arrested. There are ongoing investigations to discover further information about the identities of these persons and the reasons after being on board of the trucks. No further details were given, and the statement was limited to mentioning that investigations are still ongoing. In a separate context, a police officer of Maan police department was killed by a bullet near the industrial zone (10 km east Maan city) where a criminal search patrol chased a suspected vehicle without plates with on board suspects in a criminal case. Companions of the suspect came along in another car and started shooting their machine guns which penetrated the patrol. The bullet hit the police officer in the back, settling in his heart forcing the patrol to retreat and ask for security enhancements.
