H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, inspected the preparations for the Mother of the Nation Festival, which will kick off at the Abu Dhabi corniche on Thursday.
She was briefed on the preparations in five zones, including the Mother of the Nation pavilion, which will demonstrate the dossier of Sheikha Fatima on the empowerment of Emirati women locally and internationally.
The festival sheds light on the vision of Sheikha Fatima, which is based on consolidation of the importance of family bonds, and promotion of cultural diversity and tolerance among the members of the UAE community. Its activities focus on the role of the mother in promoting family cohesion and maintaining the authentic values and customs of the community.
The event, which is the biggest national, cultural and social occasion and organised by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, welcomes visitors from all over the country for 10 days from 24th March to 2nd April, from 4pm until midnight.
The festival offers visitors a variety of activities in five key zones stretching along 1.3 km in the open air, including market, beach, restaurants, arts, activities and environment preservation zones, as well as the Mother of the Nation pavilion.
The zones are designed to provide an interactive atmosphere for visitors - families and individuals. The festival will feature artistic and cultural sessions that give more joy and embody diversity and openness that characterise the UAE, which welcomes different cultures.
