Qatar pays special attention to the issue of women empowerment regarding the practice of political, social and economic rights and this has been enhanced through the constitution and legislations, HE Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, Qatar's permanent representative to the U.N., said before the 59th session of the commission on the status of women.
Sheikha Alya said Qatar was keen to exercise equality between citizens and has worked to integrate women issues, particularly those related to providing proper work and enhancing social protection for women in all strategies and national plans, including the general strategy of family.
She added that Qatar is also member of several international and regional conventions and agreements that enhance human rights for women such as the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
