Mabrouka, owned by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, has won the Award for Best Horse in the three-year-old category at a ceremony held at Hollywood Theatre in Los Angeles for winners of the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak - Darley Award.
The event was held under the patronage of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
The winning categories included the purebred Arabian horses and the US Darley Award for those distinguished in the field of equestrianism.
While Taraf, owned by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani, also won the title of the best horse at the age of four-years, beating all other horses competing for the title.
The Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Women Festival, in a humanitarian gesture applauded by the global equestrian community, honoured Italian journalist Monica Escano in recognition to her work in covering the equestrian activities. Throughout her career, she has been contributing towards educating Europe about the purebred Arabian horses.
The ceremony was attended by Abdullah Sabousi, UAE's Consul General in Los Angeles, Sami Al Buainain, President of the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing, Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudairi, Charge d'affaires at the Saudi Consulate in Los Angeles, Aref Hamad Al-Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Lara Sawaya, Executive Director of the H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, Chairperson of the International Federation of Horse Racing Academies (IFHRA), and Chairperson of the Ladies and Apprentice Racing Committee in the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities and other senior officials.
