Director General of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Office in Cairo Peter Van Rooij highlighted the importance of gender equality which is one of the basic fundamentals of action in the organization.
The ILO official remarks were made at the conclusion of a workshop for trainers to establish a national team to ensure gender equality. The workshop was held on May 7-20 as part of a project named "The Way Ahead After the Revolution: The Road to A Proper Work for Women in Egypt" and backed by the Finnish Foreign Ministry.
The workshop is part of a special training program sponsored by ILO to scrutinize gender equality in the foundations of government and private businesses as well as among business owners.
Finnish Embassy Charge D'Affairs Ramis al Maltei explained that gender equality is one of the main priorities of the Finnish Foreign Ministry.
