The Arab League expressed on Wednesday support for women's empowerment at the regional and international levels and stressed commitment to crystallizing a unified Arab stance in this regard.
In a press release on the occasion of International Women's Day (IWD) that falls today, the pan-Arab body expressed appreciation for Arab women's role in addressing all challenges facing the Arab region, especially terrorism that undermines women's rights.
In this regard, the Arab League launched a regional network to support women in the Arab States in realizing their full economic potential. The new network is supported by the Spring Forward for Women program, which is funded by the European Union.
The Arab Women Economic Empowerment Network, “Khadija”, acts as a channel to exchange knowledge and advocate gender-balanced approaches in the regional economy.
The network comes within a broader vision to accelerate the participation of women in the regional workforce and improve their economic performance.
