Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council, FNC, and Liborio Stellino, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE, discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and issues of mutual interests in all avenues which translate the visions and approaches of the two countries' leaderships and peoples.
Dr. Al Qubaisi reviewed the pillars and importance of the Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament which will be held in Abu Dhabi on 12th and 13th December, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, GWU, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, FDF, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
The event will be held under the overall theme of ‘United for Shaping the Future’ with the participation of 52 women speakers of parliament from around the world and deemed the first of its kind in the history of global parliament work to be held in the Middle East region.
The Italian Ambassador praised the effective role of the UAE parliamentary diplomacy while participating in the parliamentary events and communicating with peoples and parliaments across the world as well as hosting Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament.
He also stressed the importance of the summit as a platform of dialogue that gathers a number of parliament speakers at the international level, representatives of various government, private and non-government sectors, and other competent international organisations.
He also emphasised the strong and distinguished ties between the two sides and the importance of boosting them in all fields. He also hailed the distinguished status of the Emirati women and their achievements in all domains.
He also confirmed the participation of a high-profile Italian parliamentary delegation in the summit to discuss a number of issues of interest of peoples and countries of the world.
The event is co-hosted by the FNC and the Inter-Parliamentary Union, IPU, with the support of the Court of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, at the Emirates Palace.
