Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit said the AL pays a great attention to the different challenges facing Arab women, especially in Syria, Libya, Iraq and Yemen.
AL cooperates with related national, regional and international bodies to address historical challenges, that are deeply-rooted in the society because of poverty or those resulting from conflicts in the past few years, he added.
Abul Gheit highlighted the need to work hard for easing the burden on Arab women via all available ways.
Addressing the opening session of the 36 Arab Women committee meeting on Monday, the Al chief noted "there is a close relationship between empowering women and protecting their rights on one hand and improving society conditions in general on the other hand".
The more opportunities we give to women, the more they can effectively contribute to developing their societies, he added.
