University of Bahrain today signed two research cooperation agreements with two renowned British universities as a fruitful outcome of the scientific cooperation forum organized by the British Council in February and November 2016.
The forum discussed water, energy and food issues. It focused on the water desalination and reuse technologies, with the participation of local, Gulf and British researchers.
The UoB and Oxford University signed an agreement on initiating research cooperation in the field of water treatment by the use of reverse osmosis process. The agreement allows Bahraini researchers to benefit from Oxford University's expertise to reach efficient solutions to contribute to reducing the consumption of energy of water desalination.
The second agreement signed with Aston University stipulates connecting desalination plants to renewable energy system by the using reverse osmosis technology.
A delegation from the British universities is currently visiting Bahrain to set out upcoming actions and to stage workshops for UoB staff.
