The search committee formed to find a full-time vice chancellor for Gujarat University received only 35 resumes. The second meeting of the committee is expected to be later this month to shortlist candidates or discuss the resumes received. The three-member committee sent over 200 letters to all universities in the country asking for names of educationists suitable for the post. However, with the last date for receiving biodatas over, the three-member committee received only 35-odd application of which the majority were from GU staffers only. However, not many outsiders have shown interest in the position. The first meeting of the committee was held in December after governor Dr Kamla appointed Anamik Shah, professor in the Department of Chemistry, Saurashtra University as chairman of the three-member search panel. Earlier, the academic and executive councils had appointed VC of MS University Yogesh Singh as one of the three members of the committee, while the Joint Board of Vice-Chancellors appointed Ambedkar University vice-chancellor Manoj Soni as the second member.
