Georgetown University has inducted the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Washington into the university's 1789 Society in recognition of its support of the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies (CCAS).
Georgetown University's President Jack DeGioia said in a Certificate of Appreciation to HE Qatar's Ambassador to US Mohammed Jaham Al Kuwari "The Embassy of the State of Qatar stands as a symbol of the close friendship between the American and Qatari people. In developing a world-class educational system, Qatar has welcomed the presence of American universities including Georgetown's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, now celebrating its ten-year anniversary in Doha." He noted "Furthering its nation's mission to serve as a platform for global learning and dialogue, the Embassy of Qatar has provided longstanding support to the CCAS," adding "With tremendous generosity, the Embassy of Qatar established the Qatar Post-Doctoral Fellowship program at CCAS, bringing outstanding young scholars to Georgetown to focus on the critical areas of US-Arab relations, Arab studies and Islamic studies."
