More specifically, the workshop seeks to strengthen the knowledge of current and future members of the Omani National Bioethics Committee in formulating effective working mechanism towards policy making and raising public awareness on emergency bioethics issues. It is also aimed at regulating policies and mechanisms governing consanguinity practices; and global ethics and the role of the National Bioethics Committee.
The workshop, hosted by SQU, was organized by UNESCO and the Omani National Bioethics Committee, in coordination with the National Commission for UNESCO in Oman.
In addition to hosting Omani experts specialising in bioethics, the workshop featured three international experts: Dr. Aissatou Toure, a researcher at the Pasteur Institute in Dakar, France; Dr. Mohamed Salah ben Ammar, former minister of health in Tunisia; and Dr. Mariam Dashti, assistant professor in Molecular Medicine at the Arabian Gulf University, Bahrain.
