President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had agreed to raise the number of scholarships for Somali students at Egyptian universities to 200 each year, Aswan University President Mansour Kabash said.
Kabash made the remark during a university board meeting on Sunday.
The board also tackled an invitation by Spanish Ambassador in Cairo Arturo Avello Díez to both Kabash and the dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation to attend an honors ceremony of a number of Egyptian cultural figures held by the Spanish embassy.
The board also approved a memo of understanding signed between Aswan University and Germany's Free University of Berlin in research, education and training programs.
