The first International Conference of Al Qasimia University (AQU), under the patronage of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has discussed 15 work papers in three sessions on the second day, under the theme, "Our Identity in our historic and heritage memory."
The first session, chaired by Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Jabouri, focussed on the importance of cultural awareness in strengthening the identity. The session reviewed five papers presented by Dr. Mohammed Ismail Mashal from Egypt. They talked about effective awareness of Islamic culture in building and developing national spirit. Other paper focussed on cultural awareness in the making of future.
The sessions concluded with a paper titled, "Selected Models from the United Arab Emirates," presented by Emirati researcher Dr. Badria Al Hosani. It demonstrated the traditional crafts and industries and their role in consolidation of national identity.
The International conference has been jointly organised by the University of Sharjah in association with the Sharjah Heritage Institute and Hamdan Bin Mohammad Heritage Centre (HHC).
