The British Council and ATEL (Association of Teachers of English in Lebanon) will hold the Cambridge ESOL Exam Certificate Ceremony at the UNESCO Palace in Beirut next Saturday, January 21. The graduation ceremony, which will showcase the achievements of the 800 exam candidates, will be chaired by UK Ambassador to Lebanon H.E. Tom Fletcher. Fady Yarak, General Director at Ministry of Education, Yassin Jaber, Member of the Development and Liberation parliamentary bloc, and Barbara Hewitt, Director of the British Council in Lebanon will attend the event which has become increasingly popular and well-known. Ms Hewitt stressed the importance of learning English not simply as a foreign language, but as ‘the passport to international opportunities and communication.’
