In response to the directives of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, to promote cooperation locally, regionally and internationally, to develop the higher education system and encourage research and innovation, the Scientific Research Department of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has discussed with the British Council a number of proposals for the development of research collaboration to create a forum that brings together researchers from both parties for consultation and transfer of experiences to offer scholarships for graduate studies in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Husam Sultan Al Ulama, Director of the Department of Scientific Research, said the proposals included putting forward plans aimed at greater coordination in research between researchers, students and learners as well as some research areas that constitute a priority for the communities of the two countries, such as desalination of seawater, wind energy, solar energy, and topics related to the science of humanities.
