A group of 38 Chinese higher education administers on Wednesday began a training program at the University of Houston, Texas. The month-long Higher Education Leadership Training program will offer the Chinese higher education administers, from 13 major universities across China, programs ranging from utilization of new technology in university administration, university's finance management, U.S. community college system and international student learning experiences to human resources management and students recruitment. Gao Jun, head of the Chinese higher education administers delegation, said the training program provides an opportunity for the Chinese higher education administers to broaden their horizons. Through this program, the Chinese participants can learn advanced concepts and management experiences and hopefully will apply these concepts and practices in their work back in China, Gao said. The Asian American Studies Center at the University of Houston has been the partner of the Chinese Education Ministry and the China Scholar Council for over 15 years, Yali Zhou, director of the Asian American Studies Center, said at Wednesday's luncheon held for the Chinese delegation. More than 600 Chinese university presidents, administrators and professors have participated in the center's international education program, according to Zhou.
