An agreement was signed recently between The American University in Dubai (AUD) and the Al Maktoum College of Higher Education in an effort to promote multiculturism. The agreement aims to promote and encourage the exchange of students and faculty, the organization of joint workshops and training programs, the conduction of joint research and development projects, and finally the exchange of publication. More specifically, AUD will encourage its UAE national students to participate in the Academic Training Programme in Multiculturalism and Leadership offered by the Al Maktoum College. A preparation for UAE national students in the key contemporary global issues of multiculturalism, leadership, cultural engagement, and global awareness, the program gives participating students the experience of the broad field of the study of Islam and Muslims. Students participating in the program take classes, participate in discussions and debates, and produce written and assessed coursework to demonstrate their engagement with the academic issues of the program. The agreement was signed in the presence of Elias Bou Saab, Executive Vice President of AUD, Mirza Al-Sayegh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Al Maktoum College, Dr. Hossein Godazgar, Reader in Sociology of Religion and Acting Principal of Al Maktoum College, and Peggy Awad, Director of External Relations at AUD. "AUD's reputation of excellence in education precedes it, and we truly believe that signing the agreement today means additional value for us," Al-Sayegh said. extend the regards and appreciation of Sheikh Hamdan who has been keen on seeing AUD and Al Maktoum College partner in educating the next generation of UAE national scholars." Bou Saab commented: "The American University in Dubai endeavors to educate students to become global citizens, with cultural sensitivity and openness. Our approach to higher education is in line with the mission of the Al Maktoum College, and we are proud to be part of this great initiative to promote multiculturism in a learning environment."
