H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, has inaugurated the Smart Library of the Ministry of the Interior, which is the first of its kind globally in terms of harnessing modern technology in the field of science and spreading knowledge.
The Smart Library includes a variety of digital information sources comprising about 14,000 e-books and 8,000 scientific periodicals, 3,000 electronic newspapers which are updated every minute, thousands of Masters and PhD theses, as well as all digital solutions and smart visual and audio programmes that support the expansion of knowledge or educational attainment for all employees of the Ministry.
H.H. Sheikh Saif emphasised the need to provide electronic facilities for employees of the Ministry to obtain the practical product that the Smart Library includes, at all times, to serve the UAE government's desire to transform government services to smart services.
He added that keeping up with science cannot be achieved without providing digital and smart means for employees, and this is part of the Interior Ministry's strategy to invest in all technologies to support innovation through the creativity and innovation club of the Secretariat of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, which now holds its meetings with innovation teams through interactive conferences in the library.
The inauguration of the project ,which was held at the Police Departments' Complex in Abu Dhabi, was attended by Lt. General Saif Al Shafar, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhraibani Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and a number of senior officers at the Ministry of Interior and Abu Dhabi Police.
