In line with raising cultural and educational awareness and coping with the modern methodologies in education and training using advanced technology, Riffa Social Center organized a workshop entitled “The Optimum use of Internet (Educational Programmes)” to direct parents to the optimum use of Internet and train them to benefit from its educational programmes. The aim of the workshop also was to develop the children’s various educational skills and knowledge, particularly in their free time and summer holiday on the different Internet websites. The workshop was presented by the Information Technology specialist at Ministry of Education, Dr. Hamza Mahmoud, in presence of 20 people from the same area. The workshop also highlighted the dangers of leaving children by themselves to open Internet websites without parental directions. It also pointed out how to protect children and members of the family from misuse of Internet, and presented models for a group of educational and recreational programmes for the parents to direct and train their children to benefit from them. Those programmes included Arabic Language, Mathematics, English Language, learning and reciting the holy Qur’an, educational games, and colouring, as well as distributing educational CDs containing a group of valuable educational programmes for children. The theme of the workshop was very important, of which the social center is keen to shed light on, because of the change of individual coexistence and their role towards the members of their family in presence of the Internet.
