The Los Angeles school district said it delayed a board vote on a plan to deploy iPads to its students and staff. The postponement was granted out of respect to late board member Marguerite Poindexter LaMotte, who died last week, Superintendent John Deas said. The Los Angles Times said two board members who backed the $1 billion iPad plan were trying to keep the vote on Tuesday's board agenda rather than push it back to January. They proposed a board resolution Friday to waive the board's regular rules and put the measure up for a vote. The Los Angles Times said the concern among district administrators is that delaying the vote to provide the initial $115 million in funding would hamper the procurement process. "We were on a strict time line that has already been pushed to the edge," said board member Monica Galatzan. "That's why it was being brought back in December. Whether it's tablets, laptops or whatever, there's a whole bunch of steps that have to happen."
