Oman’s most keenly awaited quiz programme for schools, which brings together some of the brightest young minds, is here.
Preparations are on to set the prestigious Times of Oman Inter School Quiz Contest (TOOISQC) rolling.
The prelims of the inter school quiz will be held across different international schools during the month of April.
While the finals of the TOOISQC will be held at the City Amphitheatre on Saturday, April 29, the mega prelims will be held on Thursday April 27.
For the first time, Times of Oman’s inter school quiz has been outsourced and will be organised by Eventful/Doc LLC,a leading event management company.

While the mega prelims and finals of TOOISQC will be conducted by Oman’s favourite quizmaster Giri Balasubramaniam, the prelims will be conducted by quizmasters from Greycaps, Asia’s largest onstage quizzing and knowledge services company.
Giri Balasubramaniam, better known by his pseudonym Pickbrain, said, “It is heartening to see the Times of Oman inter-school quiz, grow from strength to strength. I have always believed, given that all humans have curiosity of some form, all of us have a quizzer within us and the best time to bring that out is to take part while at school”.
The inter school quiz will be held in two categories - junior (grade 8 and below) and senior (grade 9 to 13). Accordingly, there will be two sets of prelims, mega-prelims and finals for the two categories.
The quiz is open to teams from all international and private schools and any number of teams from a school can take part. Each team will have two students from the same school.
Terms and conditions for participation is mentioned in the form which will be printed in Times of Oman.
As a tribute to the memory of the late Essa bin Mohammed Al Zedjali, founder of MPPH now known as MMG, the Times of Oman has instituted a championrolling trophy in his name for the inter-school quiz contest. The winning school teams at the Times of Oman Inter School Quiz Contest (TOOISQC) will lift the Essa bin Mohammed Al Zedjali Rolling Trophy for their school.
