Minister of Higher Education Malik Ali affirmed that Syria is determined to confront terrorism and defeat the Takfiri mentality due to sacrifices of Army soldiers and blood of the martyrs.
The Minister, meeting the Syrian higher studies’ students and teachers at the Friendship University in Moscow, said President Bashar al-Assad has made Syria an advanced state in adopting principles of democracy, party and political pluralism, an issue that was confirmed during the presidential elections and the Syrians’ turnout inside and abroad Syria.
Ali told SANA correspondent in Moscow that his visit to Russia comes in the framework of consolidating culture and scientific ties connecting Syria and Russia, adding Syria has an advanced culture program with Russia that dates back to a number of decades.
“Russia has proved that it was and still is the friend of Syria as there is an integration between the two peoples, and we are keen to promote culture and scientific relations to the level represented by the political ties led by two Presidents Bashar al-Assad and Vladimir Putin,” the Minister said.
Ali added that he discussed with the Russian side issues related to developing the delegating and increasing the number of scholarship of the Syrian students in Russia.
He pointed out to Russia’s positive evaluation of the Syrian government decision to teach the Russian Language at Syrian schools.
For his part, Rector of Damascus University Mohammad Amer Madini said the visit to Moscow comes in response to an invitation by Moscow Private University of Industry and finance to sign an agreement with it.
He added the two universities agreed to exchange expertise, educational materials, visits of staff and students.
Moscow Private University of Industry and finance is a higher educational institution which was established in 1995. More than 30.000 students study in the University and 600 teachers work in it.
