H.H Sheikh Saif conveyed the greetings of the higher leadership and the government’s sentiments of pride in the students’ achievements. H.H Sheikh Saif also extended his heartfelt congratulations to the students ahead of the glorious 43rd National Day and praised the efforts of the Forum’s organizers. He also encouraged the overseas scholarship students to contribute their innovative experiences to provide government performance with purposeful ideas and suggestions designed to enhance the quality and level of the services offered to the public; and create new services.
The forum started with the UAE National Anthem, and was attended by Sultan bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Director of East Asia and Pacific Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the US; in addition to a host of scholarship students, distinguished members of the diplomatic corps and a large gathering of guests.
Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Salah Obeid Al Ghoul, Director of Law Respect Culture Bureau, the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, also delivered a speech on this occasion. He said, "Launching the award reflects the keen interest of H.H Sheikh Saif in encouraging research studies among the various community segment, and to contribute their ideas to developing institutional work in the UAE." Adding further, Al Ghoul noted that the award aims at bringing distinguished and creative Emirati scholarship students throughout the world under the spotlight. It is also designed to encourage students to embrace innovation and creativity in police and security work fields, including traffic, civil defense and correctional establishments; in addition to non-security areas that serve institutional work. The award also reflects the prestigious representation of the UAE abroad.
He explained that the award comprises two main categories; the National Representation Award and the Innovative Ideas Award. The National Representation Award will be offered to the three top-achieving and distinguished students who better represent the UAE and reflect the Emirati identity by respecting the laws and regulations applicable at the educational entity they are part of, or by participating in the community-based activities and environmental volunteering work; as well as excelling in their academic and scientific attainment.
The Innovative Ideas Award will be granted to students who submit an idea that contributes to realizing the overall objectives of the UAE government, and the strategic objectives of the Ministry of Interior in particular. The proposed idea should be simple, applicable; it should also meet the standards of innovation and excellence and achieve a positive impact on society.
Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Al Ghoul pointed out that a work team will be assigned with the task of visiting all the countries where students are currently studying. The award’s conditions and requirements will be posted on the MoI website, while a link will be provided on the UAE embassies’ websites to directly access the award page. A smart application will also be designed in a bid to provide instructions and educational courses about the award.
All scholarship students studying in any country across the world are eligible to apply for the award, according to the formal and technical requirements for application stipulated by the award regulations’ system. Applicants must be students since more than six months at a specific academic institution.
