For the second consecutive year, Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, PSUAD, today joined in the national Flag Day campaign launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in a nation-wide day of public celebration.
The university celebrated the event with pomp and ceremony at its Reem Island campus, with its students, faculty and staff alongside children from Abu Dhabi schools who were invited to mark the occasion as the UAE Flag was hoisted on campus at 12:00 noon.
On behalf of the Paris-Sorbonne Abu Dhabi community, the administration offered its congratulations to the Emirati leadership and people. Flag Day, the administration affirmed, is a momentous occasion in which the university takes pride.
The administration went on to say that the event is "an expression of the Emirati people’s love and loyalty to their leader, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It is also a testimony of all to the judicious UAE leadership. Raising the UAE flag over public and private sector buildings and homes, at the same date and time, is truly significant and beautiful." University staff, faculty, administrators and students joined in hoisting the national flag in a manifestation of their pride in the nation, their faithfulness to its heritage and their sense of belonging under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Involving young school children in the event aimed to implant in them the spirit of patriotism, love of their country and eagerness to make their nation proud.
The administration affirmed the university’s pride in participating in the nation-wide campaign which includes local and federal administrations and authorities across the country. The campaign seeks to raise awareness on the significance of the UAE Flag as a national symbol of the population’s unity, their sense of belonging to the nation and their loyalty to the leadership. The event brought together PSUAD students in an expression of their gratitude to what the UAE represents as a unique cultural model that is globally recognised as a prime example of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
