The Ministry of Education and Higher Education said that Cabinet Resolution No. (3) of 2017 on issuing Certificates Equivalency system, which was ratified by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani earlier today, is for evaluating post-secondary school academic levels all the way to PhD.
The ministry said in a statement today that, based on the law, its department for university certificates equivalency will be charged with the task. The department will make a decision on requests made by students asking for the equivalency and would inform him or her within 60 days of having all the necessary documents. One of the conditions is that students who studied abroad have done so in accordance to terms available prior to their travel. The also resolution has a full section on distance learning.
The ministry will hold a press conference next week to shed light on the new system and how students can make requests and what documents do they need among other details.
