The midterm exams are still ongoing in the different schools for the next academic year, said Education Minister el Helaly el Sherbiny on Monday.
News reports that the ministry had cancelled the midterm exams are groundless, he added.
As many as 22 million pupils will resume on Saturday the new school year in the different pre-university education stages, the minister noted.
Sherbiny said the ministry printed about 86% of school books, adding schools took all required measures to receive new students.
Some 8,500 new class rooms will open their doors to the students in the various schools with an increase of 2,500 classes, according to the Egyptian official.
