All 25 volumes of a revised edition of the most inclusive Chinese dictionary, the Hanyu Da Cidian, will be published by 2020, according to an announcement on Monday. Over 30 percent of the current first edition will be altered, including revisions to more than 10,000 entries, and the addition of 100,000 to 120,000 entries, it was revealed at ceremony to mark the project. Containing over 50 million Chinese characters, 375,000 entries and more than 2,200 illustrations, the first edition of the Hanyu Da Cidian was published in 1986. The first volume of the second edition will be unveiled in 2015. The National Publication Funds decided in March this year to channel 27 million yuan (4.32 mln U.S. dollars) in financial aid to the dictionary's publisher, Shanghai Lexicographical Publishing House
