Maruti Suzuki ‘Colors of Youth’, a talent hunt competition open only to engineering and management students, entered the final lap with culmination of the second leg of zonal rounds in Mumbai on Wednesday. The west zone rounds which took place at Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research, Mumbai saw the students from 3 teams making it to the final round from a total of 8 participating teams from the West Zone that included Mumbai, Indore and Pune. The 3 finalist teams belong to Symbiosis Institute of International Business , International School of Business and Media and Dr V N Bedekar Institute from Pune, Viman Nagar(Pune) and Mumbai respectively. Some of the participating colleges were SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Institute of Business Studies and Research and Dr. V N Bedekar Institute and Chanakya Institute of Management. The competition earlier went through city rounds in Pune and Mumbai. The Mumbai round saw a total participation of 88 students from 29 colleges. Teams from SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Institute of Business Studies and Research and Dr. V N Bedekar Institute and Chanakya Institute of Management had made it to the West zone finals from Mumbai. The highlight of the round was the performance from the band from SP Jain Institute of Management and Research and Neeranjan Nikalje from Chanakya Institute of Management who did hilarious mimicry of well known personalities. The Pune round saw a total of participation of 97 students from 23 colleges. Teams from Symbiosis Institute of International Business, International Institute of Information Technology and International School of Business and Media made it to the West zone finals. The highlight of this round was the performance from the band from International School of Business and Media. Speaking on the occasion, Shashank Srivastava, Chief General Manager (Marketing), Maruti Suzuki India said, “‘Colors of Youth 2011’ promises to provide a national level platform where students from varied backgrounds get a chance to showcase their performance skills." The panel of judges includes noted musician Subir Malik (Parikrama) and Diana Hayden, international model and former Miss World. The winners will get a chance to win a Maruti Suzuki Ritz and other prizes. The competition covers 10 cities in the country. The other cities are Delhi, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Indore, Lucknow, Chennai, Mumbai and Bangalore. (IBNS)
