Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi said that the Ministry distributed more than 2,800,000 textbooks to all school stages ahead of the upcoming academic year 2014-2015.
The Minister said that these books include 586 titles on various aspects of knowledge.
Dr. Al-Nuaimi told Al-Wattan daily that the Ministry of Education (MOE) provides all books to students in public schools in addition to textbooks on Islamic Education, Arabic Language, Citizenship Education and Social Subjects to students of private schools where there are Bahraini students.
The Minister said that HVAC preventative repair jobs were completed in 90 out of 205 schools meanwhile the remaining schools are scheduled for maintenance in the nearest future.
"Regarding economising on electricity and water consumption, the Ministry has adopted green building construction and that highly sensitive water taps will be used, old window glass will be replaced with aluminium or insulation film," he stressed.
"And regarding students with special needs, special slopes and water closets will be constructed to serve this category of students and as an experimental phase, this will be applied in five governmental schools subject of study and appraisal until verification of its success in order to be applied in phases to the rest of governmental schools and facilities in upcoming years," Dr. Al-Nuaimi added.
Schools comprehensive maintenance service, according to the Minister, include all repair, painting of academic and administrative buildings, external surfaces, HVAC, electric load examination, electric wiring, water piping, replacement of damaged water networks as well as all the necessary jobs related to rainwater drainage in school years, etc. according to need.
Dr. Al-Nuaimi concluded that maintenance jobs would finalized ahead of upcoming academic year 2014-2015 in order to preserve educational installations and to ensure the provision of safest facilities to students and academic staff members.
