Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) Secretary General Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed said news about Bahrain School in Gaza having been bombarded by Israel and its evacuation by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) are inaccurate according to UNRWA officials.
He added that five children were slightly injured when metal shrapnel fell into the courtyard of the school. Palestinian refugees sheltered in the school have not been evacuated and the school is still open, he noted.
He also pointed out that the RCO and Bahrain National Committee for Supporting the Palestinian People in Gaza are maintaining direct contact with UNRWA to follow up on the safety of the establishments set up by Bahrain for the Palestinian people and ensure they are still operational.
He reiterated Bahrain’s unflinching support to the Palestinian people in their struggle against Israel’s brutality, in line with the royal directives.
He also paid tribute to RCO Board of Trustees Chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his valuable instructions, the government for its support and citizens and companies for their contributions.
