Two New Orleans high school students were arrested in separate incidents for allegedly trying to bring weapons into their schools, police said. The students -- both 17-years-old -- were jailed Tuesday, The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune reported. In one incident, a male student named Charlton Porter tried to walk into L.B. Landry High School with a 9mm handgun and 34 bullets, police said. Porter was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a firearm at school, possession of a firearm in a firearm-free zone, and first-offense illegal possession of stolen firearms, police documents showed. The other student, a female named Devinione Alphonse, brought a razor blade to John McDonogh High School and chased a male student around with it, police said. The boy managed to escape and Alphonse was arrested and charged on one count of aggravated assault and one count of illegally carrying of a weapon at school. Porter's bail was set at $50,000, while Alphonse's was $17,500.
