An individual was shot Tuesday afternoon at the University of California, Berkeley, local media reported. The shooting occurred inside the university's Haas School of Business, The Daily Californian, a newspaper run by students at the university, reported on its website. The suspect, brandishing a weapon, was shot by law enforcement officials and subsequently taken to hospital, Dan Mogulof, a spokesperson of the university, was quoted as saying. Police officers at the university said they responded to report of a man with a gun inside the building and shot the suspect. According to the campus' emergency response system, one suspect is in police custody and no further suspects are involved. Eyewitnesses at the scene said the shooting occurred in a computer laboratory on the south side of the building. Students and faculty were evacuated from the building, and officials at the university called it an isolated incident and said there is no further danger to students, local ABC 7 television station said in a separate report. The shooting was reported while over 1,000 students were gathering at the university on Tuesday to protest against education cuts and corporate greed.
