Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Port Dickson is proud to have been selected as a pilot school for the i-THINK programme, and its achievements since the beginning of this year have astonished even its headmaster. Headmaster A. Damootharan, 55, is beaming with pride that attendance has improved as pupils are excited about attending classes, teachers are enthusiastic over the progress of students and parents have expressed their delight over the implementation of the i-THINK programme. "Previously attendance on Mondays and Fridays would dip below 90 per cent but now it exceeds the mark. Since the programme involves a lot of drawing, colouring and discussions - the pupils are enthusiastic about attending class. "There is a lot of activity in the classroom. While before pupils tend to be noisy because they tend to talk among themselves - now the discussions are more focused and beneficial," said Damootharan who has been a headmaster for 15 years including a year and a half in SJKT Port Dickson. He praised the i-THINK programme, which utilises eight thinking maps, as a tool which helps the pupils in putting their thoughts together to come up with sentences, essays and also provides better understanding of the subjects they are learning.
