An Omani student delegation participated in a conference chaired by the United Nations in Beirut on peace and security, officials said Saturday. Arab News said on Saturday students from the renowned Sultan School attended a conference in Beirut which aimed at assessing ways nations could bridge and create the conditions for dialogue. The conference was organized by the Lebanese National Commission for Education, Culture and Science. Delegations from France, Germany, Denmark, Jordan and Lebanon took part. "This conference emphasizes the importance of bridging cultural gaps and the promotion of interfaith and inter-cultural dialogue to foster a positive understanding and appreciation of diversity," said Amna al-Balushi, Omani national coordinator of culture and sciences at the Ministry of Education. "Our participation is part of our commitment to promote the values of tolerance and acceptance. These principles must be instilled in our younger generation so hopes remain high for a peaceful co-existence of nations now and in the future," said Graeme Garrett, principal of Sultan School.
