A Kuwaiti researcher has invented a system to control presence and absence of students in schools and universities and has registered his new invention with the Intellectual Property Office in Britain. Named (system and method for monitoring and motivating students to attend), Associate Professor of education and director of research and development in the Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST) Dr. Zaid Al-Shammari told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that his invention is represented in a system to monitor and improve the attendance through scientifically-proven techniques to stimulate and change the behavior of students. He added that the invention is designed to address the reluctance of students and increase the percentage of attendance in the classroom, adding that scientific studies have shown that student attendance has a direct relationship with his or her scientific achievements. He said that the invention focuses on how to design effective ways to manage the classroom attendance such as laws, collecting and analyzing information to these methods. The research focused on how students follow the laws in the classroom, taking into account the requirements of the period of study and their attendance ratio. The researcher also came out with several other measures, such as taking the names of attendees in each lecture and the collection and coding of student attendance on a form that was designed by the researcher and then take notes and monitor the behavior of student attendance in each classroom.
