Kuwaiti officials have finalised contracts with 405 Egyptian teachers from various specialties and educational stages for the school year 2013/2014, head of the overseas education committee Mohammad al-Kandari said committee. According to Kuwait Times, 1,656 male and female teachers have been interviewed by the committee and the contracting procedures were finalised with 405 teachers in Mathematics, English, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, French, Physical Education, Music, and vocational areas of study such as carpentry, electricity, and electronics. In a statement, al-Kandari confirmed that the teachers selected had a proven track record and efficiency, expressing his appreciation at the same time to the committee's significant effort in selecting best of the applicants. Meanwhile, Kuwaiti teachers who fail to meet teaching standards will be reassigned to perform clerical work, the education ministry has said. Kuwait Times reports that the decision aims to boost learning and teaching levels in the country and enhance the students' academic aptitudes. Non-Kuwaiti teachers who do not perform according to standards will have their contracts with the education ministry terminated, the report added.
