The 8th meeting for the Educational Policies and Education Development Committee was held at the Education Ministry today under the chair of Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed al-Shibaniyah, Education Minister. The meeting reviewed the draft general education law in the Sultanate by the team formed to revise the draft general education law in the Sultanate. The participants at the meeting stressed the importance of benefiting from experiences of the pioneering countries in the field of education laws, the experiences in this field, how to benefit from them while taking into consideration the peculiarity of the Sultanate in many aspects and including them in the general education law in the Sultanate, so that the law becomes flexible, meets the current and future needs, adopts to the future changes and covers all the aspects related to the general education in the Sultanate. The Education Ministry has started preparing this law a period ago in a bid to meet the international developments in the field of education and regularizing the current relation among all education stakeholders. In light of the current education developments, the directives of His Majesty the Sultan about the importance of assessing the progress of education in the Sultanate, the team formed to revise the draft general education law in the Sultanate has introduced some additional aspects to the law to ensure that it meets the current and future needs of the education system in the Sultanate. It is worth mentioning that the work team formed to revise the draft general education law in the Sultanate reviewed at the past period, the idea of the draft along with its stages since the beginning up to now before the Education Committee at the State Council. It will be comprehensive for the education system as it will facilitate educators' access to the law to familiarize with the laws that regularize different sectors of the education work.
