Aluminum Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba)’s position as one of the world’s leading aluminum smelters that places high priority on safety, environment and technological excellence was emphasized during a recent visit to the Alba plant by a group of over 70 international student members of Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (AIESEC), a global youth organization. The students – representing over 15 countries – are currently pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies in business, economics, mathematics and hospitality. They are on a short visit to Bahrain to learn about the culture, social and economic environment and also take part in various projects in association with AIESEC Bahrain. Power Station Director, Amin Sultan, Senior Manager for Cast-House, Abdul-Rasool Ahmed Abdul-Rasool, Acting Manager for Human Resources & Public Relations, Hamad Al-Shaibeh and General Secretary of the Alba Labor Union Yasser Al-Hujairi welcomed the international students who were led by Saud Al-Hiddi and Mahmoud Al Hamad from AIESEC Bahrain. The students were given short presentations on the company following a brief tour around the plant. Commenting on the visit by the international students to the Alba plant, the company’s Acting Director Administration, Abdul-Rahman Janahi said: "Most of the students had come with questions, and were eager to know about Bahrain, its culture and the business environment that had enabled a company like Alba to grow and thrive. Hence, it was a pleasure to share with them about Alba’s growth from a regional pioneer into one of the world’s leading aluminum smelters. This growth has been mainly due to the forward thinking industrial policies of Bahrain’s government and the consistent support given by the company’s 3000 strong workforce of which 87 per cent comprises Bahraini nationals. We wish the students a pleasant stay here in Bahrain and wish them success in their various projects." AIESEC is known to be one of the world's largest student-run organizations, and is engaged in offering experiential learning opportunities through leadership roles, internship opportunities as well as organizing seminars and conferences. AIESEC Bahrain is primarily run by university students and recent graduates, and offers around 45 internships and 20 leadership experiences per year. It has organized a youth round table in partnership with Young Arab Leaders in 2007, 2008 and 2009; held two national conferences per year since 2007; sent representatives from Bahrain to three international conferences organized by AIESEC.
